We just returned from a couple of days exploring the North York Moors in northern England. The weather was worse than forecast –overcast with rain most of Saturday, and a lot of cloud and rain.
I’m heading into another depression, but the autumn lighting helped me feel more alive. For some reason taking photos also helps me feel better. Here’s a flavour:

Robin Hood's Bay,near the car park. Okay,so I look in odd directions.

Dalby Forest, between Pickering and Scarborough. Taken from under an umbrella.

The car park in Pickering. No sun, plenty of rain, but check those colours.

This is the top left corner of the previous shot. It's like getting close to a Van Gogh painting.

On the way to Goathland where the TV series Heartbeat is centered
I really didn’t feel like making the effort to go away;just wanted to hibernate for the weekend. Logically I knew it would make us both feel better. Somewhat better. For a while. Emotionally I knew it was a waste of energy.
But it worked.
Driving home the sun was breaking through cloud ahead of us most of the way, back lighting trees and ferns and sheep, underlighting power cables, and no doubt seeping through my eyes to boost serotonin levels.
Sorry, can’t resist adding a few more photos. This batch dedicated to the real Larry Harbuck (and Linda, obviously):

Had to rest the camera on a wall to keep it steady enough for this low light shot. Get too close and sheep move on.

Yorkshire is famous for its two-headed sheep

Aha,just for a few minutes we have sun;an occluded front spent the last 24 hours ambling through.

Yeh,more sheep. There's an early-warning station just out of shot.
