Copying articles

For most non-profit purposes it’s straightforward to use stuff from this blog.

Legal bit: All articles on this blog are copyright (c) Nigel Leech 2009. Extracts not over 250 words or half of any one article whichever is smaller may be used without first seeking permission provided that the source is credited. For all other use permission must first be obtained from the author.

Practical bit: If you’d like to use any of the photos then check out the PHOTOS tab. For text over a short extract just e-mail me at nigel@nigel-leech.com saying what you would like to copy and how you wish to use it. There’s unlikely to be any problem, especially if you wish to use it for non-profit purposes. Assuming it’s okay I’ll e-mail you the article(s) requested in whichever file format you specify, which will save you re-typing stuff (right clicking on blog pages shouldn’t let you copy material direct, although of course you can always do a screen dump). Obviously I’ll ask you to credit the source and include a suitable copyright statement.

Why have I modified my policy? Check out this blog post. Pretty creepy. I don’t want to restrict what most of us would consider valid uses of my material, but neither do I want some crook making money out of my work without permission. On average it takes me two hours to write one blog post; some have taken as much as six hours including research. I want to help people grow. I don’t want to help anti-social people profit immorally. Hope you agree. Sorry this means I’ve had to impose restrictions on re-use of what I write here.
